Hotel Review: Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen
8 pools, 2 cenotes, 13 unparalleled dining venues, 8 bars, proactive service, enough activities to last all day, a speakeasy, and more…. what’s not to like?
Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen is a new resort located in the Playa Del Carmen resort town best accessed by Cancun International Airport. I visited recently, and loved the property, service, and food. This is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort located just 10 minutes from downtown Playa Del Carmen’s “Fifth Avenue” area, and just 45 minutes south of Cancun International Airport.
From the decor, to the service, to the pools, to the food, this was a top of the line resort in every way imaginable. With 485 suites, a gorgeous spa, gourmet dining, and premium drinks, I never wanted to leave this stunning paradise tucked between the palms.
ROOMS
The rooms at Moxché are beautifully appointed with natural wood, earthy fabrics, and neutral tones. We were welcomed with a birthday surprise of champagne and decor! The in room amenities are from Gilchrist and Soames. When booking this resort with the Refined Passport, be sure to mention any special occasion you may be celebrating!
DINING
10 restaurants?! How could anyone try all of them? I only managed to try 7 of them in my 4 night stay. My favorite is Bamboo, a Southeast Asian fusion restaurant with great views of the central salt water lagoon. The Market Café was our go to spot for breakfast, and we were never bored with the endless selections!
Allora - Italian cuisine, fantastic dessert!
Bamboo - Southeast Asian cuisine - overlooking main lagoon
Barefoot Grill - Light lunch specialties near the pools
Bisou - French cuisine
Coco Café - Coffee and snack bar - fantastic coffee!
Dos Almas - Mexican cuisine
Ember - Fire kitchen
Market Café - International buffet
Seasoul - Fresh Seafood
Suki - Pan-Asian cuisine - hibachi experience you can reserve for free
Teodoro is another option. They have a gourmet tasting menu that is an additional charge if you are staying less than 5 nights. If you are staying 5 nights or more, Teodoro is free of charge.
Additionally, the Observatory Preferred Rooftop restaurant is available to club members, and the Cielo Impression Rooftop restaurant is available to guests staying at the Impressions side of the resort. We loved Cielo so much we ate there twice!
DRINKS
Moxché has 8 bars in total. The Cielo Impressions Rooftop and Impression Lobby Bar are two that are only accessible to Impressions guests, and the Observatory Rooftop Bar is accessible to Preferred Club guests.
There are three different pool bars across the resort and spanning the beach as well. Sugar Reef, Mantarray, and the Cove Bar are accessible by walk up or swim up! There is also a Lobby Bar, Theatre Bar, and the sports bar (Dark Horse).
Last but not least is Gypsy Bar, the secret speakeasy. If you spot a funny looking cabinet in the pharmacy, chances are you may have found it. The password is announced nightly at the Theatre show, but any staff member can help you puzzle it out.
ACTIVITIES
I highly recommend downloading the Hyatt All Inclusive app for easy access to the daily activities, restaurant menus, and general hotel information.
The activities throughout the day were always changing and easy to get involved with. This resort’s entertainment team is unmatched!
I joined an impromptu Zumba class on the beach at one point! Moxché has everything from water aerobics to underwater cycling or trampoline classes, live music, beach yoga, trivia, and so much more. Guests have access to Hobie Cat catamarans, stand up paddle boards, ocean kayaks, and smiling staff always at the ready to help with any of the above. We booked an afternoon catamaran ride and had an amazing time with gorgeous views!
This resort has an absolutely stunning spa and the treatments are all carefully curated for maximum relaxation. The gym is also well equipped, and you can play tennis on rooftop courts!
In the evenings, there is a nightly show in the Moxché Theatre. The shows change every day and are always a fantastic time. Additionally, many guests gather at the Dark Horse bar in the evening. Wind your way up the spiral staircase and discover a hidden gaming area with a golf simulator, pool table, and more!
BEACH & POOLS
With eight pools and two man made cenotes to choose from, I didn’t want to sit still! I pool hopped through my whole trip, just to get a taste of each spot.
The saltwater lagoon is the central pool closest to the lobby. This is a free form pool with different depths to choose from, with a sandy beach as well as platforms with ladders.
The infinity pool that stretches much of the length of the resort is a relaxing spot to sink in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The pool closest to the beach is the “main” pool with lots of activities, live music every afternoon, and a swim up pool bar. This is the spot to be if you want to make friends and get active!
Yet another pool is between the main pool and the infinity pool. This one has a more low key feel, but you can still access another swim up bar to continue your enjoyment.
The cenotes, tucked away to the side, are a perfect quiet escape to lay back and bask in the sun.
Finally, the beach has several cabanas, lounge chairs, and shady spots to relax and appreciate the ocean breeze and rushing waves.
VANSHIKA’S TAKEAWAYS
Overall, I loved this resort and was absolutely blown away by the food, service, and surroundings. The rooms are flawless, the food is the best I’ve ever had in an all inclusive, the service was unbelievably proactive, and the resort is simply stunning.
I have clients who have loved this resort as well, and can’t wait to help you book your next vacation here as well!
